P90X Chin-Up Bar Review
P90X Chin-Up Bar is a well known staple of the P90X program. There are multiple uses for the product that make it a worthwhile investment in your home workout set up.
I rate different aspects on a scale of 1-5 (5 being great) and then give a final verdict to Pump It or Dump It:
Price: 2
The Chin-Up Bar costs $60 and an additional $15 for shipping. There are a lot of other chin up bars you can get out there between $15-$50. It is more expensive than most bars, but you have multiple grips for multiple positions. Most bars don’t offer this. This is a high price-high value product, but worth it.
Assembly: 2
This is not easy. It is an exercise in and of itself. There are multiple parts as you can see and multiple steps. The P90X Chin-Up Bar instructions are not that simplistic because there are multiple steps. After you figure out it is mostly screws, washers, and nuts. It wouldn’t hurt to have someone help you with assembling the product. It is fairly light weight so no need to have someone help you carry the P90X Chin-Up Bar into your house. You need to make sure that you have a door capable in width. The P90X Chin-Up Bar dimensions are 17″ wide at the base that latches on to a door and the width of the arms are 41″. Most doors will work. Closets can be difficult and might require you to take out the door depending on how the doors open. This was the case for my closet in my workout room.
Ease of Use: 4
Not much difficulty here. You obviously need to be careful about elevating off of the ground. You may need a chair or stool initially if you lack the necessary upper body strength. The step could prevent you from a bad fall. Make sure there is a soft place to land especially if this is your first time using a chin-up bar. If you exceed 300 pounds then don’t use it. You face the risk of it breaking or causing door damage.
Upper Body: 5
There are multiple grips here to use for numerous types of pull up routines such as wide front pull-ups, reverse grip chin-ups, and closed grip overhand pull-ups. These exercises are great ways to get a well balanced upper body strength across all of your muscle groups.
Core: 3
P90X does a great job of providing core synergistic exercises. The idea is that your entire body is moving and you are exercising multiple large muscle groups. Through numerous exercises such as
Lower Body: 2
There are other exercises to work your thighs and calves. The weight of the Beachbody P90X Chin-Up Bar doesn’t support using your legs. There is use you can get out of the bar with leg raises, but not substantial.
Cade’s Verdict: Pump It!
I say this with a bit of caution. I think the P90X Chin-Up Bar is worth it IF you are using P90X . P90X is such an exceptional fitness program with a lot of thought put into it. P90X is one of the few products that can fit so many body types no matter what their body composition is. That alone makes this product worth it. It is fairly expensive and you can find other cheaper Chin-Up Bars. It is still worth it because of the multiple uses that you can take advantage of in the comfort of your home.
Any other questions that you have that I didn’t answer about this product? Let me know in the comment section and I will be glad to help.

Hi … great review….. just one thing…. what is the clearance distance between door frame and hand grips? Does your elbows knock/rub on the door frame whilst conducting pull ups?
Thanks
